Cricket's Page

Text Box: Cricket has always loved people. She'll 'paw' you to give her some attention. As we walk around the park where we stay in the winter, we always meet someone and will stop and talk. It might be someone new who wants to meet Cricket -- or an old friend who wants to give Cricket a good petting. After a while, Cricket will bark....as if to say "you said go for a /walk/, not stop and /talk/!" She's a great ice breaker in a new situation. She keeps us going.

When she started her training, Cricket was afraid of everybody and especially larger animals. Now she's Miss Social Butterfly, greeting everyone! Someone saw her picture on a web site and asked to buy her. Cricket is NOT FOR SALE!

Cricket was born in August 2003. Corky was born in March 2008. Corky is a work in progress. He's quite the character -- and tries to aggravate Cricket at every turn.

Cricket and Corky have many travel miles under their collars. They were born in Pennsylvania and live in Indiana and Texas. Cricket has travelled more than 36.000 miles, not including regular car rides to the vet, groomer, and to visit with children. She's hoping to find some children in Texas to visit and play with this coming winter.

Cricket is going to tell us more of her adventures on this page. So watch for future updates!

Cricket and "little brother" Corky (in training)

Tues, 12/8 8:22 p.m.

Well, we finally got alllll the way down to San Benito. 1,400 miles!

Almost to Brownsville, Tx.  -- the southern most tip of Tx.  We managed to bring the cold weather with us.  Most mornings it was frosty.  Then this past  Friday, as we were leaving Victoria --  it started snowing!

By the time we got to the south side of town, the ground was covered.

(They don't know what snow is there.)  So we had to travel in snow -- then rain -- for the next hour to two.  Finally, it quit.  But there was water everywhere in the fields.  Farmers won't be able to plant anything for a while.  Since it's normally pretty warm down here, they can plant crops year around.

Arrived at our final destination Friday.  They'd had so much rain the last few days, we were not allowed to go to our regular parking spot in the campground.  While we waited for the ground to dry out, it warmed up to 70 degrees.  Wow...what a difference in one day....from 29 degrees on

Saturday morning to 70 degrees on Sunday!   Today, we had a real

problem....I've got too much fur for the 86 degree temperature we had....sure hope tomorrow is better.  Mom even said something about being too warm -- she found some shorts and a  sleeveless top...and took

her shoes and socks off!   (peeee yewwww!)

Ray did get to watch the COLTS game on a Spanish-speaking station!  He

turned down the volume.

We've been getting to go on long walks around the park.  There are several other Shelties here -- it's always good to see our distant relatives.

Mom gave Corky and I some big chew bones....I'm going to go chew a

while.    Y'all take care!

Cricket

Wed. 12/16 Cricket had surgery for a lump under her chin. All is well. It was a benign tumor.

Christmas in our mobile home.
